The book project 101 hits on Hisingen

Together with Claes Olsson, we have been working on a book project about Hisingen for some time. If all the pieces fall into place, we hope to be able to publish it in time for Christmas. Hisingen, the island between the Göta and Nordre älv rivers, is Sweden's most expansive and economic hub. The island has a rich history. There are memories from the Stone Age. There are memories from war.

Hisingen became both a vegetable garden and a workplace for the people of Gothenburg. In the past, people worked with sheet metal in the shipyards, while now they write code on keyboards. Cars are still manufactured and containers are unloaded. Cows are milked and Hisingen potatoes are picked.

The nearly 200,000 residents of Hisings have left their mark on Gothenburg, regardless of whether they have lived on a farm, in apartment buildings or in villas with a sea view.

We want to show an island in constant change but also with beautiful nature and a diverse history. Here we present 101 places on Hisingen that are worth noting, some well-known others more unknown.

Mikael Svensson is a Mölndalsbo and professional nature photographer with a passion for water motifs. His photos can be found in books about Mölndalsån , Dalälven andDelsjön , among other things. This time he has explored every corner of Hisingen with his camera.

Claes Olsson is a hiking blogger who has lived and worked on Hisingen for most of his life.
