Let yourself be seduced by the Dalälven. The watercourse that personifies Dalarna but also reaches beyond the borders of the landscape. With the water drop as a companion, we encounter enchanting falls, calm courses, the abundance of national parks and bays full of life.

We also encounter the image of Sweden, at least the stereotype and the tourist's dream. Clusters of red cottages, cubic kurbits and a lot of midsummer bars. All while the Vasaloppet track melts to give momentum to the Vansbro swimming. Many have been attracted to hike the trails and more come after. Footprints of valley travelers such as botanist Carl von Linné and local history researcher Karl-Erik Forsslund are deep.

But what did Linnaeus know about ice climbing in Trängslet while he was counting petals at the foot of Hykjeberg? Should Forsslund have spent more time finding the source of the Dalälven River, instead of obsessively recording old cow names and even older huts?

Mikael Svensson is responsible for the work's images.  – a mountain-loving photographer with membership in Naturfotograferna. In constant search of perfect light and never-ending fog, he has this time explored the treasure trove of Dalälven. Among his previous photo books are The longest waterway in the Nordic countries, Nordic light and Mölndalsån.

Behind the words is Jan-Olov Moberg – a servant of the water who mixes writing dreams with flood risks and teaching. This alternation with the water at the center has now taken him on a valley journey full of discovery. He has previously written the book The longest waterway in the Nordic countries .

Join us on an updated journey of discovery – a natural description with cultural samples along the water's captivating journey from mountain to bay.
