Not only the mainland is interesting. In 2023, a rewarding award-winning fact book about Hisingen was published by Martin Ahlstedt . Now a photo book by Mikael Svensson (photographer) and Claes Olsson (writer) is being released. The book shows more than just heavy industry. It focuses on beautiful natural areas, a rich agricultural area, traces from the early Stone Age, strange rock paintings, medieval churches, remains from the many wars and from the closed shipyards.

The photo book 101 Highlights of Hisingen guides you to places worth noting: residential areas, shopping centers, schools and industries that have an interesting contemporary history, as well as sports fields, swimming areas and public parks. Hisingen is an island in constant change and an expansive and important hub for the whole of western Sweden when it comes to economy, trade, education and manufacturing.
